About
Brushy Street Commons is located in the 501 Studios building, on a historic sound stage that has been part of the cultural creative fabric of Austin for nearly half a century.
Filming Stevie Ray Vaughn
Beyond countless national commercials shot over thirty year plus years, Austin legends like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Willie Nelson filmed music videos here. Universal Pictures outfitted this soundstage for their 1981 film Raggedy Man, starring Sissy Spacek and Eric Roberts. All the Texas Lottery drawings, naming lucky millionaires on a weekly basis, were drawn and broadcast from this room for more than a decade.
Not only is it steeped in a rich local history and uniquely designed by world-class entertainment professionals, it has regularly transformed throughout its existence – a tradition Brushy Street Commons continues today, through good food, drinks, and live entertainment, day and night.
